Tyler

Tyler is originally from Georgia and spends much of her time outdoors with her small family and with animals. You'll find Tyler on a yoga mat, riding horses, hiking, or chasing around her kiddo at a playground or playing with her therapy dog Frankie when she is not in session. Early mornings are a sacred time for Tyler, and she enjoys those on her porch, listening to the birds and windchimes while reading a book and drinking coffee. As a doctoral student, she learns for fun, especially about interpersonal neurobiology, animals, nature, and wellness. Tyler's favorite book is Tuesdays with Morrie; she loves deep questions about life as much as she loves a corny joke. She lives by the words of the one and only witchy queen of rock, Stevie Nicks: "Don't be a lady, be a legend" and the Queen of Country, Reba McEntire herself: "To succeed in life, you only need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone."

As humans...

We are the experts in our lives and experiences, but we long for connection. I believe we can heal our bodies, minds, and souls through movement, a safe place, occasional laughter, nature, music, animals, and sometimes art. I find myself grounded in attachment-based, somatic, trauma-focused care working with ages 3-85+. Interpersonal Neurobiology is a topic I tend to "geek out" on and become excited about. Utilizing mindfulness throughout sessions with adults and as a play therapist, I believe that children communicate and heal through play; I include sensory work, somatic practice, sand tray, attachment-based play, and EMDR to assist children and their families.

I take a collaborative approach when working with individuals from all walks of life. I have experience working with various people, but I am passionate about working with the following: Attachment Disorders, Adoption, Dissociative Disorders, (c)PTSD, Chronic illness and pain, LGBTQ+ issues, Suicidality, Childhood trauma, Adults of Childhood Neglect / Abuse, and Domestic Violence. My approach to treatment includes somatic work, walk-and-talk therapy, animal-assisted yoga, mindfulness, sand tray, expressive modalities, and EMDR.

I know that often, as either a parent or an individual, reaching out for help can be the hardest part. I strive to offer a comfortable, safe, and nonjudgmental environment to explore thoughts, emotions, and feelings. Through our time together, I hope that, as an imperfect, ever-changing person, I have the opportunity to hold the space for you that you need to process life and hopefully share a few laughs with you along the way.

I also offer specialty therapies such as Therapy incorporating Equines (horses) for individuals and groups, walk and talk therapy, somatic work and trauma-informed yoga classes. During a session with me, if you wish, you will have the opportunity to participate in animal-assisted therapy, and you'll get to meet Frankie, my therapy partner, and the best Labradoodle around if you ask me.
